You’re Invited to Bogworts Encampment! Please Come! Weekends April to October 2026

We are fulfilling a longtime dream of a live-work farm-school educational retreat center: part Hipcamp, part Airbnb, part work party, part farm dinner, part literature/philosophy seminar, part readers/writers retreat, part farm/farmstead training center. This is not a rest-and-relax kind of place, but a work-and-learn place. For example, outdoor hands-on work in the mornings, heady seminar in the afternoon, with personal time in between for reading or walking in the woods.

We believe culture starts with growing, preparing, and sharing food. That’s why the first thing we are doing is building three different kitchens. One is “The Old Kitchen”, a newly restored colonial hearth and beehive oven in the original 1700s farmhouse. The second is in the adjoining Victorian farmhouse with a wood cookstove plus contemporary professional kitchen setup for production food prep. The third is an outdoor cooking area in the Valhalla pavilion. This area may still be rudimentary for our first season, starting with a basic fire circle for campers, but will ultimately be a roofed feasting hall with open-fire cooking.

The first events will be one-day events with no overnight camping. By late May, we expect to start hosting weekend events, by mid-summer three-day weekends, and by high summer, two weeklong events. We are asking for your help to schedule events that will be the most fun and rewarding. We’ve put together five questions in a simple survey to get your input.
